SwingDrawCoach’s Eye is gone. Here is what golfers use now.
Coach’s Eye and Hudl Technique were the simple slow-motion-and-draw apps a lot of golfers and coaches relied on. Both are discontinued. These are the current iPhone and iPad options, and who each suits.
What happened
- Coach’s Eye (TechSmith) stopped being sold in September 2021, and TechSmith ended support roughly a year later, according to user reports from the time.
- Hudl Technique was acquired by OnForm on May 17, 2021. The app was discontinued that summer, support ended in October 2021, and paid users were offered migration to OnForm.
- A new “Coach’s Eye” by Gym Art Inc. launched on the App Store on March 26, 2026. It is a separate, general-purpose annotation app, not the TechSmith product.
What a replacement needs to do
Most people used Coach’s Eye for four things: slow motion and frame stepping, drawing lines and angles on the video, side-by-side comparison, and sending the result to someone. Any replacement should do those without making you pay monthly for the basics.

Why SwingDraw feels familiar
The core loop is the same one Coach’s Eye users know: open a clip, scrub to the frame, draw a line or angle, compare with another clip, and export. SwingDraw adds golf-specific help on top: a clubhead path trace, body tracking with spine angle and Head Stability, a tempo ratio, and a library you can filter by club.
It is a one-time purchase, so it cannot be discontinued out from under a subscription you are paying for, and your videos stay on your device rather than on a server that might shut down.
When another app is the better replacement

Is Coach’s Eye still available?
The original Coach’s Eye by TechSmith was retired: TechSmith stopped selling it in September 2021 and ended support about a year later. A different app called “Coach’s Eye” by Gym Art Inc. appeared on the App Store in March 2026; it is not the TechSmith product.

Can I import my old Coach’s Eye videos?
If the videos are in your Photos library, yes: SwingDraw imports from Photos, including several at once. Annotations made in Coach’s Eye cannot be imported.
